Happy Hour: Spring Equinox Edition

It’s Wednesday, March 20th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Brooklyn Brewery rolls out their Local x Local Concert Series at Brooklyn Bowl (61 Wythe Ave., at N. 11th St., Williamsburg) tonight at 8pm. Enjoy a performance with Brooklyn band Beach Fossils, $4 Lagers, and their 25th Anniversary Lager on tap! Admission is $5 at the door.

  • California (and soon Virginia) brewer Green Flash and Idle Hands Bar (25 Avenue B, at 2nd St., East Village), team up for the bar’s weekly $10 Bourbon and Beer Tasting Series. Tonight from 7-10pm, $10 gets beers in a 3-beer tasting flight, 2 full pours, a taste of whisky, and an order of tater tots!

  • Enjoy some smoked beers until 10pm tonight at Sycamore (1118 Cortelyou Rd., at Westminster Rd., Ditmas Park). They’ll be offering an $8 four-beer flight with brews like Ballast Point Abandon Ship, Sixpoint Signal, and more, so you can dabble in a few different ones for one nice price!

  • Taproom 307 (307 3rd Ave., at 24th St., Murray Hill) hosts Founders tonight at 7pm. Say goodbye to winter with beers like the Backwoods Bastard and Breakfast Stout, and hello to Spring with the Cerise, All Day IPA, and more!

  • The Tenement Museum (103 Orchard St., at Delancey St., Lower East Side) hosts The New Little Germany: New York Revisits the German Table, a discussion on the rebirth of German beer and food culture in New York, tonight at 6:30. Tickets are $30 and available online.

  • Birreria at Eataly (200 Fifth Ave., at 23rd St., Flatiron) hosts a tasting with the brewers from La Niretta, a Rome-based brewery, today from 4-6pm.

  • This week’s Tuesday Tasting at Jimmy’s No. 43 (43 E. 7th St., at 2nd Ave., East Village) celebrates American Porters and Stouts! $20 gets you six tastings of brews like Greenport Harbor Black Duck Porter, Anderson Valley Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout, and Green Flash Double Stout, and more! Happy Hour: Night of the Imperials

It’s Wednesday, March 13th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • It’s Night of the Imperials at Blind Tiger Ale House (281 Bleecker St., at Jones St., Greenwich Village). Starting at 3pm, they’ll put up a handful of super-rare, super-strong beers, including a 2006 vintage Sierra Nevada Bigfoot, 2010 North Coast Old Stock, and 2009 Goose Island Imperial Brown. Get there early before they kick!

  • The East Coast vs. West Coast Punk Rock Brew Tour heads to Staten Island to rock out at 120 Bay Cafe (120 Bay St., at Slosson Terr., St. George, Staten Island) tonight at 6pm! Representing the East Coast will be Smuttynose, Bronx Brewery, Victory, and Sixpoint. From the West Coast: Lagunitas, Oskar Blues, Sierra Nevada, and Ballast Point. These breweries will battle it out on the taps, all served with a soundtrack of punk and hardcore.

  • Empire Brewing visits Top Hops Beer Shop (94 Orchard St., at Broome St., Lower East Side) tonight at 6pm. They’ll pour the IPA, White Aphro, and Amber Ale for all beer lovers to enjoy!

  • Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, Long Ireland and Idle Hands Bar (25 Avenue B, at 2nd St., East Village), team up for the bar’s weekly $10 Bourbon and Beer Tasting Series. The five-course dinner includes items like Cavolo Nero e Fagioli and Gnocchi alla Romana paired with Italian Craft Beers from Birra del Borgo and Del Ducato, and more!
