NYC Beer Week Kickoff is one week from tonight

The New York City Brewers Guild kicks off the 6th Annual New York City Beer Week a week from today! For ten days, the five boroughs will celebrate craft beer, bars, and breweries in New York City. But despite a whole slate of events across the five boroughs (which we’ll start to run down next week), there’s one event we’re most excited about: their opening night event next Friday will give you a chance to drink in the beer of New York and the history of Grand Central Terminal.

For Bronx Brewery, hurdles cleared and an end in sight

It’s six o'clock on a Wednesday night and I’m trudging down a snow-covered sidewalk on East 136th Street in the South Bronx. Sirens wail in the distance and an Amtrak train rumbles on the trestle overhead. There isn’t a soul in sight, and there’s a streetlight out that makes me ponder walking in the middle of the street, having no idea what lurks on this desolate industrial block after business hours. Just past the trestle, I come across a plain, two-story brick building with a steel door and windows on the second floor. It looks like any typical low-rise industrial building in these types of neighborhoods in New York City. But inside of it, a dream several years in the making is finally becoming reality: The Bronx Brewery is finally under construction.

Bell’s has arrived in New York City!

It’s finally here! The long-awaited release of beers from Michigan-based Bell’s Brewery is here. Bottles have already started popping up at retail locations this morning, and there’s a week full of launch events ahead of us. And as we’ve updated our calendar page, it’s even easier to find all the events lined up this week.

Bell’s will be sending their full arsenal of year-round and seasonal beers here. Most notably, there will be kegs of the highly-rated Hopslam floating around the city next week, much to the joy of hop heads. In addition to that, we’ll see the Smitten Golden Rye, the Cherry Stout, Expedition Stout,Special Double Cream, and more at spots around the city this week, on top of the beloved year-round Two-Hearted, Amber, and the Oarsman Ale.
