Brooklyn Brewery co-founder discusses the evolution of craft beer

On the heels of the release of his new book, The Craft Beer Revolution: How a Band of Microbrewers Is Transforming the World’s Favorite Drink, Brooklyn Brewery co-found Steve Hindy is on a bit of a press junket lately. Earlier this week, he participated in a Reddit IAmA, and tonight at 7pm, he’ll be at the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue for a panel discussion with Kim Jordan of New Belgium and Charlie Papazian, president of the Brewers Association. Tickets are still available if you’re one of those types who waits until the last minute.

On the hunt for the most remote brewery in America

With over 2,800 breweries in the United States, there’s seemingly one around every corner these days. But where, we wondered, is that not the case? After all, a lot of them are clustered in hotbeds of activity - there’s over 100 each in the Denver and Portland metro areas, and over 80 in the San Diego area. There’s even a few dozen here in the Tri-State area. So clearly, there must be some places where there’s one lone brewery, out in the middle of nowhere, that’s making craft beer with no one else around.

So, we pose the question: what American craft brewery is furthest from the next nearest brewery? In other words, where is there a brewery with no other brewery nearby?
