State forms working group for New York craft brewers

State leaders today announced a group of experts from beer and agriculture will make up a working group for the craft beer industry to tackle the challenges that face the industry as it grows rapidly in New York State. The working group was first discussed in April at the state’s second Wine, Beer, Spirits and Cider Summit, and will act as a point of communication between craft brewers and state government to guide regulatory reforms and other issues that could need statewide coordination.

Beer distributor brings new brands to New York City

Remarkable Liquids, a beer distributor based in Albany, is greatly expanding their presence in New York City over the coming weeks, bringing a whole host of new beers to the market that will soon appear on tap lines and shelves around the city. Remarkable Liquids had been making occasional shipments to bars and shops in the five boroughs, but will now roll out an expanded staff and several breweries that’ll be new to the city’s beer drinkers.

Beer for Beasts returns in September; tickets on sale now

Don’t worry - the folks at Sixpoint and Beer Advocate haven’t forgotten about it. The fourth annual Beer for Beasts returns in 2014 in a new time slot: September! This year’s sessions will be held Saturday, September 13th at the usual venue: The Bell House (149 7th St., at 3rd Ave., Gowanus). The annual event is one of our favorite beer events of the year here in New York, and it’s for a great cause: all proceeds go to the Humane Society of New York. Tickets are on sale now.
