Two familiar faces on New York’s craft beer scene are launching a new beer this week, just in time for New York City Beer Week. Cuzett Libations is the new brainchild of beer power couple Chris Cuzme and Mary Izett, fixtures of homebrewing and craft beer in New York and co-hosts of the Heritage Radio Network show “Fuhmentaboudit!,” who were on the hunt for a new beer project and found it in what is the city’s newest beer brand.
There will be no rest for the weary after NYC Beer Week wraps up. We’ve learned that during the first week of March, Kansas City outfit Boulevard Brewing Co. will roll out its beers in New York City for the first time, making a long-awaited debut.
Tørst (615 Manhattan Ave., at Nassau Ave., Greenpoint) is a semi-finalist for this year’s James Beard Award for Outstanding Bar Program, the James Beard Foundation announced yesterday. The bar is the only one of this year’s 20 semi-finalists that serves only beer, and the third with a beer-centric menu to receive a semi-finalist nod in the four-year history of the category, and the first in New York City.
