image

The Elite 8 has been determined, and it’s time for the quarterfinals of BARch Madness! The votes have been counted from the third round, and now it’s time to decide who goes on to the Final Four

After the third round, only one #1 seed remains: Torst, who must face Good Beer to punch their ticket to the Final Four. The bars that upset #1 seeds in the second round, Bondurants and Covenhoven, both move on to the Elite 8, facing Valhalla and #15 seed Pacific Standard, a true Cinderella story after defeating last year’s champion and their own neighbor 4th Avenue Pub. The beloved, hyped Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout makes its annual arrival in New York City this week. The Imperial Stout, which includes generous amounts of coffee and chocolate, is cave-aged in bourbon barrels for a year, and weighs in at a cellaring-friendly 11.2% ABV. This year, the rollout will include a week’s worth of release events all over the city.

The kickoff starts tomorrow with a handful of events, including a big Founders tap takeover at One Mile House (10 Delancey St., at Bowery, Lower East Side) with both KBS and its distant cousin, Canadian Breakfast Stout on tap, along with a whole bunch of other goodies and rarities from the Grand Rapids, Michigan-based brewery. That event gets underway at 5pm.

But that’s not all! Here’s a rundown of bars that will be releasing KBS on tap in special events during the month of April.

A year later, they began selling beer in their eye-catching 16-ounce cans, and began spreading to markets around the Eastern US shortly thereafter. They’re currently in the process of constructing a new 50,000 square foot riverfront brewery in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, with plans to open by late next year.

The fire that resulted from the explosion on 2nd Avenue in the East Village came perilously close to the building that houses three popular craft beer bars, but it did not spread to the building. 43 East 7th Street, the building where Jimmy’s No. 43, Standings, and Burp Castle call home, was directly next door to the three buildings that collapsed in the disaster yesterday, which left dozens hurt and two others still missing. While all three bars remain closed, they hope to be able to assess any damage and reopen shortly.
