Three Brooklyn bars celebrate sours all September long

Three popular Brooklyn beer bars are celebrating the joy of sour beer all month long with the first-ever Brooklyn Sour Beer Fest. Sister bars Mission Dolores (249 4th Ave., at Carroll St., Park Slope), The Owl Farm (297 9th St., at 5th Ave., Park Slope), and Bar Great Harry (280 Smith St., at Sackett St., Carroll Gardens) will dish out lots of sours during September, and for ten days each, the bars will keep six interesting sour beers on tap at all times.

Breweries in LIC host Summer Crawl

That makes a crawl between all four convenient, and they’re encouraging just that starting on Friday, August 14th with their weeklong Summer Brewery Crawl.

Every Day is IPA Day

It’s IPA Day, a made-up beer holiday now in its fourth year as a day to promote the hoppy beer style. But let’s posit this: IPA Day isn’t necessary. Sure, maybe a decade or more ago, an IPA Day might have been helpful to build awareness of the style, when hop-forward beers were not yet dominating the beer market. But today, IPAs are practically synonymous with craft beer. And despite already being the top-selling beer style in the nation, IPA sales are still growing at a rapid clip. Is there really a need for a day to promote a perennial champion?
