Rockaway Brewing heads to the beach

Since its opening, Rockaway Brewing Company has been brewing commercially out of its facility in Long Island City, where it has built out a popular taproom and brewery. But its namesake section of Queens – where co-founders Ethan Long and Marcus Burnett homebrewed and honed their craft – was always in the plans, now they’ve finally planted their stake down by the beach with their new Beach 72nd Taproom (415 Beach 72nd St, at Amstel Blvd, Arverne). They’re swinging the doors open with an opening weekend bash on Saturday, June 25th.

On final day of legislative session, State gives nod to relaxed beer laws

In the final days of the state’s 2016 legislative session, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that he and legislative leaders had come to an agreement to loosen a handful of Alcohol Beverage Control laws to make it easier for bars and breweries to do business in the state. Among the biggest highlights for consumers is an earlier start time to Sunday alcohol sales at bars and restaurants, a blue law that had been on the books since the end of prohibition.
