In a ceremony at Jimmy’s No. 43 capping off July Good Beer Month, the Good Beer Seal committee announced fifteen new bars as inductees on Thursday Night. These bars will now proudly display the Good Beer Seal, which certifies bars that don’t just merely offer craft beer, but celebrate it. Greenpoint Beer Works, a brewery in Brooklyn that’s pushed out hundreds of thousands of barrels of beer since 2003, is closing up shop at the end of this month. Every New York State brewery, mapped
image

The number of breweries in New York State continues to grow at a rapid clip. New York was #2 in new brewery openings in 2014, and that clip continued in 2015, albeit at a slightly slower pace. It took around three years for New York to get from 100 to 200 breweries, but it may take less than two to get from 200 to 300. By our count today, there are 275 brewing licensed facilities in New York state, including brewpubs. Another 29 have pending licenses, meaning they should be open soon.

8 NYC Beer Bars Make Draft’s Top 100 List
image

Every year, Draft Magazine releases their list of the 100 best beer bars in the U.S. The 2016 list has eight entries from New York City - down from ten in 2014 and 2015, which was the city’s best showing ever on the list. It’s not exactly a slight to New York – with so many good beer bars, there are always bound to be some glaring omissions. Here’s who made the cut from the city:
