While on the topic of new low country winter seasonals, New Holland’s Cabin Fever is also delicious
Winter is by far my favorite season for beer
I had this for the first time this weekend. It’s a delicious brown ale, very fitting for the season.
Now, if only someone could explain to me why I can these Michigan breweries distribute to Virginia, but not to New York.

I got way too excited about seeing a new beer from my home state of Rhode Island: Block Island Blonde. Unfortunately, it’s another shame of my lowly state, and is not worthy of my treasured NewsWatch 16 pint glass.
The beer isn’t brewed in Rhode Island, naturally. It’s brewed at Lion Brewery in Wilkes-Barre, PA - a brewery that hasn’t found a shitty beer it won’t contract brew. The head on this thing is barely noticeable and has no lacing to speak of. No real aroma here other than some very faint pilsener malts. Extremely watery, no body to speak of, highly carbonated, and a mildly malty, midly hoppy taste. Great for Bud Light drinkers, but otherwise another scar on the tiny Rhode Island beer scene.
Grade: C- (only because I can’t give a beer with any ties to Rhode Island a failing grade)
