You thought we were done? Nope. Last month, we summed up four new places in New York opening this winter that focus on craft beer. But - as further evidence that craft beer is quickly becoming mainstream even in this cocktail-and-wine-obsessed city - here are three more places slated to open in the coming months.
It’s Monday, January 9th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:
It’s a Cask Ale Party tonight at Taproom 307(307 3rd Ave., at 24th St., Murray Hill)! 4-10pm. Enjoy $5 pours from a variety of casks, including Ridgeway Mad Elf, He'brew Lenny’s RIPA, Blue Point Hoptical Illusion, and even more beers served the way the Brits like ‘em.
It’s VSK (Very Special Keg) Monday at Blind Tiger Ale House(281 Bleecker St., at Jones St., West Village). At 5pm, they’ll tap a rare or unique keg of the bar’s choosing. This week, straight outta Vermont, it’s Hill Farmstead Edward, an American Pale Ale brewed with a plethora of American hops.
Over in Jersey, Cloverleaf Tavern(395 Bloomfield Ave., at Hanford Pl, Caldwell) taps a special keg themselves tonight at 5pm: Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. They’ll distribute tickets for a pour starting at 4:30pm, so get there early!
The NCAA Football National Championship Game is tonight, so naturally, Standings(43 E. 7th St., at 2nd Ave., East Village) will have free pizza for their game-watching party at 8:30, along with plenty of tasty craft beer on tap.

If you told us that the next new craft beer spot would be in a spot that’s two blocks from a drive-thru McDonald’s, a gas station, and the BQE, we might be hard-pressed to believe you. A spot on Kingsland Avenue, an area that’s at least a ten minute walk from the nearest subway stops (Graham Ave. on the L and Nassau Ave. on the G) and straddles the line between the eastern reaches of Williamsburg and Greenpoint, is not what we’d call a beer hotbed. But One Stop Beer Shop(134 Kingsland Ave., at Beadel St., Greenpoint) is already giving the neighborhood some craft beer cred, wooing beer fans from North Brooklyn. Open for just two weeks now, they’re building a small following already with their draft beers, growler fills, and beer cocktails.
So, you’ve probably wondered, now that their supply of Diesel has been exhausted, what does Sixpoint have up their sleeves next for their beers in cans (ahem… “nano-kegs”)? Well, we have answers to that question… two very different answers.
It’s Thursday, January 5th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:
It’s that time again! The monthly IPA Night at Bierkraft (191 Fifth Ave., at President St., Park Slope) is tonight, with tons of IPAs on tap starting at 7pm. Among them, Kelso Industrial IPA, Mikkeller Citra Single Hop IPA, Sixpoint Gemini, and a ton more that are pleasing to the bitter taste buds on your tongue.
Get ready, Jersey City! The Iron Monkey(97 Greene St., at York St., Jersey City, NJ) taps a keg of Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout tonight at 8:30pm sharp. Get there early or you’ll probably miss out on a delicious, critically-acclaimed beer.
Further out in Jersey, Dogfish Head takes over the taps tonight at the Copper Mine Pub(323 Ridge Rd., at Crystal St., North Arlington, NJ) starting at 5pm. Choose from Hellhound on My Ale, My Antonia, 120 Minute IPA, and plenty more.
