Your Beery Weekend: November 16-18

image

We like to do some ridiculous things for good beer. This weekend, we’re travelling out to Papillion, Nebraska to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Nebraska Brewing Company. They’ve made some pretty amazing beers, and we here in New York were blessed to be one of the first cities outside of the Midwest where they sent their beers. If you’re not one to hop on a 6am flight out of LaGuardia to visit a brewery for a day, track down some of their beer this weekend if you can, and raise a glass to their first five years!

We’ll be updating you on our travels - which include a few other Midwestern breweries - on Twitter. Meanwhile, back here in New York, there’s quite a few beer events going on this weekend. Here’s the rundown.

How you can support Barrier Brewing

image
After Sandy, Barrier Brewing in Oceanside suffered significant flooding, and lost equipment and beer, as seen in this photo they posted to Facebook

We told you a couple weeks ago about the destruction that Sandy brought upon Oceanside, Long Island’s Barrier Brewing. The brewers are estimating that they suffered over $100,000 in damage from the storm. That’s a tough pill to swallow, considering they just invested half a million dollars into a new facility earlier this year. A lot of people have been asking how they can support this small brewery in their time of need, and there are two events lined up in the coming weeks to help them out.
