Happy Hour: End of the World, Two Days Early

It’s Wednesday, December 19th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Blind Tiger Ale House (281 Bleecker St., at Jones St., Greenwich Village) hosts their Elysian Apocalypse Series event that was supposed to be held back in October. Why not have it two days before the end of the world? They’ll pour the Rapture Heather Ale, Peste Chocolate Chili Ale, Ruin Rosemary Agave IPA, Torrent Pale Beet Bock, and a whole lot more weird beers all night long!

  • Standings (43 E. 7th St., at 2nd Ave., East Village) and Burp Castle (41 E. 7th St., at 2nd Ave., East Village) dedicate the night to Sandy Relief, as 25% of all the profits tonight at both bars will go to the Mayor’s Fund for New York City Hurricane Relief. They’ll also have free pizza at Standings at 8pm!

  • Speakeasy battles Founders tonight from 6-10pm at Dive 75 (101 W. 75th St., at Columbus Ave., Upper West Side). They’ll pit beers from both breweries against each other, like the Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA vs. Founders Centennial IPA, and the Speakeasy Payback Porter vs. Founders Porter. You decide who reins supreme!

  • Enjoy Flight Night with Allagash until 10pm tonight at Sycamore (1118 Cortelyou Rd., at Westminster Rd., Ditmas Park) . They’ll be offering a four-beer flight from the Maine brewery, with White Ale, Bourbon Barrel Aged Black Ale, Curieux, and Fluxus!

Happy Hour: Thirsty Tuesday

It’s Tuesday, December 18th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Get a Rocky Mountain High tonight at The Pony Bar UES (1444 First Ave. at 75th St., Upper East Side) as they host a lineup of Colorado beers tonight at 6pm. They’ll have some rarities like the Oskar Blues Oak-Aged Ten Fidy, Left Hand Wake Up Dead Imperial Stout, Breckenridge Holidale, and much more!

  • A big lineup of Sixpoint beers will be on tap for the annual holiday party tonight from 6-10pm at Mission Dolores (249 4th Ave., at Carroll St., Park Slope). This year, it’s also a relief effort to raise funds for the Red Hook Initiative, with food provided by Fort Defiance. Among the brews on tap: Apostle IPA from Union Pool, the Get Safe Saison from Roberta’s, Spice of Life Pacifica, Atlantic Antic Amber, and many more!

  • Bierkraft (191 Fifth Ave., at President St., Park Slope) hosts a free Tuesday Tasting of beers from Contract Brewers tonight at 7pm. Get a lowdown on contract brewing with Bierkraft’s own Jim Krusas. Get there early for a seat!

  • Be charitable and try the new Bronx Black Pale Ale tonight at One Mile House (10 Delancey St., at Bowery, Lower East Side), as the bar hosts a toy drive with Bronx and Toys for Tots. Bring a new, unwrapped toy from 7-10pm, and the folks from the brewery will buy you a beer!

  • It’s Flying Dog Night at Good Beer (422 E. 9th St., btw. 1st Ave. and Ave. A) tonight starting at 6:30pm. Try some beers from their Single Hop Series, plus the Sour Cherry Berlinerweisse, all at nice prices for pints and growlers!

Happy Hour: Across from Track 13

It’s Monday, December 17th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Beer Table Pantry (Grand Central Terminal, Graybar Passage, Midtown) hosts KelSo beer in their weekly series of visits this month, tonight from 5-7pm. Before you catch the train, grab a sample or a growler of their Rye-Aged Pale Ale and meet brewer Kelly Taylor.

  • It’s VSK (Very Special Keg) Monday at Blind Tiger Ale House (281 Bleecker St., at Jones St., Greenwich Village). At 5pm, they’ll tap a rare or unique keg of the bar’s choosing. This week, it’s the Dogfish Head Etrusca Bronze, a beer based on an ancient Etruscan recipe and brewed in collaboration with Italian brewers Leo DeVencenzo of Birra del Borgo and Teo Musso of Baladin.

  • New York Beer Company (321 W. 44th St., at 8th Ave., Midtown West) hosts a Troegs Beer Dinner tonight from 5-11:30pm. The three-course menu includes a House Salad with a homemade Honey Citrus vinaigrette paired with the Perpetual IPA, a fried vegan Edamame & Chick Pea Burger paired with Mad Elf, and Triple Chocolate Cake paired with the Java Head Stout. The dinner is just $21.95 and you can secure a slot in advance through Eventbrite.

  • For those in Westchester, the long-awaited soft opening of the new location of Peekskill Brewery (43-57 Water St., at Hudson Ave., Peekskill) is tonight at 6pm! Their first floor taproom will be open for drinks… food will come later.

Happy Hour: Thirsty Thursday

It’s Thursday, December 13th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • The Thursday Tap at Jimmy’s No. 43 (43 E. 7th St., at 2nd Ave., East Village) this week is the Barrier Submersible Series Belgian 1. Get there at 5pm and try this Belgian Pale Ale that survived Hurricane Sandy!

  • It’s Weyerbacher Night at Breukelen Bier Merchants (182 Grand St., at Driggs Ave., Williamsburg) tonight at 7pm. They’ll be pouring the Yankee Ale, Winter Ale, Heresy Imperial Stout, and much more from the famed Pennsylvania brewers.

  • Sunswick 35/35 (35-02 35th St., at 35th Ave., Astoria) hosts a Founders Michigan Karaoke Night starting at 7pm. Sing a song by a Michigan artist (we beg of you, more Bob Seger, less Kid Rock), and win a prize! Plus, they’ll have Backwoods Bastard, Cerise, Red’s Rye, and - yes - the 2011 Kentucky Breakfast Stout on tap!

  • Head to Bronx Ale House (216 W. 238th St., at Broadway, Kingsbridge) as they tap a keg of the Stone Enjoy By 12.21.12 IPA starting at 7pm! Get it while it’s fresh and before it’s gone!

  • It’s a Christmas Beer Bash at Standings (43 E. 7th St., at 2nd Ave., East Village) tonight starting at 6pm. They’ll pour the Defiant Christmas, Breckenridge Christmas, and the Southern Tier 2XMas on tap, a cask of the Weyerbacher Last Chance IPA, and free brats at 8pm!

  • Things get a little Russian tonight at Brouwerij Lane (78 Greenpoint Ave., at Franklin St., Greenpoint). Enjoy the Pretty Things Babayaga and Wandering Star USSR on tap while our friend Bocky dresses up in Russian attire and spins Russian music from 6-10pm.

  • It’s Staff Choice Draft Night at Bierkraft (191 Fifth Ave., at President St., Park Slope) tonight starting at 7pm. They’ll have a great lineup of beers on tap, each chosen by a member of the Bierkraft staff!
