But after a break from throwing a shindig in the five boroughs, they’ve announced that IPA Fest is coming to the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint on Saturday, September 14th.

The small town of Decorah, Iowa (population 8,127) might not be known to most New Yorkers, but for uber beer geeks, the town is definitely on their map thanks to Toppling Goliath Brewing Co., which opened in 2009. For years, people trekked to Decorah to chase after their beers. Beer releases there increased the population of the town by 25% on a given weekend. Now, thanks to a large expansion of their brewery last year, you won’t have to make the trip to Iowa to drink Toppling Goliath; their beers are now available in New York City.

A little less than three years ago, the NYC Brewers Guild hosted a party to kick off NYC Beer Week that pulled out all the stops: a sold-out event where a bevy of New York City breweries, New York State breweries, and their out-of-state friends all joined together to pour a plethora of amazing beer. For the third year, the Opening Bash returns – this time, with a second session to quench the thirsty masses.
