Samuel Adams tweeted this picture on Friday, March 8th, in the midst of a snowstorm when Boston proper received over a foot of snow. Yes, that’s a picture of a bottle of their Summer Ale in the snow. In case you can’t tell, we’re not dancing for joy over this, even though the beer is our favorite seasonal beer in their rotation. But we are smiling and laughing a little bit over this “jump the shark” moment for the craft beer industry. Yes, absurd as it is, the seasonal beer release schedules have become so accelerated that seasonal beers are being released two seasons ahead of their namesake.

Now that you’ve recovered from Beer Week and St. Patrick’s Day, it’s time to focus on the next major going-on on New York’s beer scene. The NYC Craft Beer Festival is making its seasonal return for their “Spring Seasonals Edition” on Saturday, March 30th. On that day, Manhattan’s Lexington Armory (68 Lexington Ave., at 25th St., Rose Hill) will be invaded by beers from dozens of American craft breweries, along with artisanal foods for purchase, live music, seminars, and some access to special brews.

A couple years back, just before St. Patrick’s Day, I was at Good Beer having a pint when someone walked in and asked the owner, “do you guys carry green beer? Like, for St. Patrick’s Day?”
