They have arrived! San Diego’s Green Flash Brewing is invading the city for the weekend for a lineup of events called “I Flash NY” (please - do not abuse this term). The team from Green Flash - including brewmaster Chuck Silva - will pay a visit to the five boroughs this weekend for a lineup of great beer events. New York City is full of unique neighborhoods, each with their own local spots that serve great craft beer. Occasionally, we’ll profile a few spots in each neighborhood - all within walking distance of each other - that you can explore in one trip.

Today, we explore Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a neighborhood that just a few years ago was devoid of a craft beer culture entirely. Today, there’s a whole slew of craft beer spots shaking up the frat-bar reputation of the area. To start the crawl, take the 6 Train to the 96th Street stop. And please, drink responsibly. • Barrier Brewing visits Downtown Bar & Grill (160 Court St., at Dean St., Cobble Hill) starting tonight at 6pm. They’ll have the Beech Street Wheat, Evil Giant IPA, and Craven Belgian Red on tap for your enjoyment, fresh from Long Island!
  
  
• City Swiggers (320 E. 86th St., at 2nd Ave., Upper East Side) hosts Maine’s Atlantic Brewing tonight from 6-9pm. Join Enrica for a tasting of the new-to-town Real Ale and the classic Blueberry Ale.
  
  
• It’s Flying Dog Night at Mudville 9 (126 Chambers St., at W. Broadway, Tribeca) tonight starting at 7pm. They’ll be pouring the Pearl Necklace, Gonzo Imperial Porter, Pumpernickel IPA, and more on tap!
  
  
• Astoria Bier & Cheese (34-14 Broadway, at 35th St., Astoria) hosts a beer and cheese pairing with Samuel Smith tonight from 6-8pm. Enjoy some brews from the other side of the pond, and get free cheese with every beer purchase!
  
  
• Adobe Blues (63 Lafayette Ave., at Fillmore St., New Brighton)
  continues their second annual Mikkeller Week tonight. They’ll have the Koppi Coffee IPA, Wheat is the New Hops, and Monk’s Brew on tap, plus new bottles from the cellar each night. Tonight in bottles, it’s the Black, a massive 17.5% ABV imperial stout.
  
  
• The Stag’s Head (252 E. 51st St., at 2nd Ave., Turtle Bay)hosts a celebration of favorite beers from Ben Dillon’s Angels, a team of four fine members of the Union Beer team, tonight at 6pm. Expect some surprises, and free chicken and biscuit sliders!
  
  
• Dogfish Head and Idle Hands Bar (25 Avenue B, at 2nd St., East Village), team up for the bar’s weekly $10 Bourbon and Beer Tasting Series. Tonight from 7-9pm, $10 gets beers in a 3-beer tasting flight, 2 full pours, a taste of whisky, and an order of tater tots.

The Brewers Assocation, the industry group representing American breweries, released their annual list of the top 50 craft brewing companies in the U.S. by sales volume today. One local brewer moved up the list this year, and another New York brewery appeared in the top 50 for the first time.

• Brewmaster Chris Cuzme rolls out some new beers at The 508 Gastrobrewery (508 Greenwich St., at Spring St., SoHo) tonight starting at 5pm. Among the debuts: the Sea Witch Wit, a Witbier brewed with sweet orange peel, coriander, lemongrass and Turkish chamomile, the Hamber Smoked Amber Ale, and Sancho “1.5x IPA.” They’ll also have live jazz.
  
  
• The Owl Farm (297 9th St., at 5th Ave., Park Slope) hosts their Spring Beer and Baseball event tonight from 6-10pm. They’ll show the Yankees and Mets games, and serve up beers like the Elysian Avatar Jasmine IPA, Greenport Harbor Spring Turning Rye Saison, and the new Captain Lawrence/Mission Dolores collaboration, Prime Directive - all for nice prices!
  
  
• Spuyten Duyvil (350 Metropolitan Ave., at Havermeyer St., Williamsburg) rolls our a lineup of collaboration beers in an event they’re calling “‘Lil Help From My Friends” starting at 5pm tonight. Among the beers they’ll serve up on tap: the Stone/Green Flash/Pizza Port Highway 78, the Green Flash/St. Feuillien Friendship Brew, and the Allagash/De Molen Smoke & Beards.
  
  
• The Pony Bar UES (1444 First Ave. at 75th St., Upper East Side) hosts Ithaca Beer Co. tonight at 6pm. They’ll have eight brews from the Finger Lakes, including their Pale Ale, Gorges Smoked Porter, and the 14th Anniversary Ale.
  
  
• Radegast Hall & Biergarten (113 N. 3rd St., at Berry St., Williamsburg) hosts our friend Mike Lovullo and his lineup of imported Farmhouse Ales in their Tuesday Tasting tonight at 7pm. Enjoy beers like Castelain St. Amand, Jenlain Blonde, Haandbryggeriet Hesjeol, and more on draft!
  
  
• The East Coast vs. West Coast Punk Rock Brew Tour heads to the Boogie Down for an appearance at Bronx Ale House (216 W. 238th St., at Broadway, Kingsbridge) tonight at 7pm. Representing the East Coast will be Smuttynose, Bronx Brewery, Victory, and Sixpoint. From the West Coast: Lagunitas, Oskar Blues, Sierra Nevada, and Ballast Point. These breweries will battle it out on the taps, all served with a soundtrack of punk and hardcore.
  
  
• This week’s Tuesday Tasting at Jimmy’s No. 43 (43 E. 7th St., at 2nd Ave., East Village) features ciders, hosted by Tom Oliver of Oliver Cider & Perry! $20 gets you six tastings of ciders and perry poured by the man behind the cidery’s name! Things get underway at 7:30pm.

While Spring has been M.I.A. for its first couple weeks, it finally looks like it might warm up this week enough to begrudgingly drink outside, even if it is in a windbreaker. So, we’ve cobbled together a list of six of our favorite outdoor spots for drinking craft beer. Don’t call them all beer gardens - some of them are rooftops, some are patios, and some are full-blown backyards, but all are great places to enjoy the spring weather and drink delicious craft beer.
