Happy Hour: Breakfast for Dinner

It’s Tuesday, July 9th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • It’s Beer Breakfast for Dinner tonight starting at 5pm at The Double Windsor (210 Prospect Park West, at 16th St., Windsor Terrace). Enjoy beers like the Kuhnhenn Blueberry Pancake, Founders Breakfast Stout, Schlenkerla Urbock, and Against the Grain Citra Ass Down. Get a flight of all four and you’ve got yourself a healthy complete breakfast of pancakes, coffee, bacon and OJ! They’ll also have breakfast items on the food menu, and breakfast cereal to munch on all night long.

  • Spring Lounge (48 Spring St., at Mulberry St., Little Italy) hosts their annual IPA Event tonight starting at 6pm. On tap, big hoppy beers like Founders Devil Dancer, Green Flash Hop Odyssey Citra, Firestone Walker Wookey Jack, Empire IPA, and more, plus free rotisserie chicken!

  • It’s a Heavy Seas Tap Mutiny at Pine Box Rock Shop (12 Grattan St., at Bogart St., East Williamsburg)! Tonight starting at 7pm, the brewery’s Hugh Sisson is in the house, offering up beers like the Powder Monkey, Cutlass Amber, and Riptide White IPA. Plus, they’ll be debuting their new cask system with a cask of the Loose Cannon.

  • Bierkraft (191 Fifth Ave., at President St., Park Slope) features Belhaven tonight at 7pm for their free Tuesday Tasting. Sample beers from Scotland’s largest and longest-running brewery.

  • Rattle-N-Hum (14 E. 33rd St., at 5th Ave., Midtown) hosts San Francisco's Speakeasy starting at 4pm. Enjoy the Black & White Cookie Stout, The Accomplice, Tallulah Blonde, and lots more on tap all night long.

Happy Hour: Tap Attack!
It’s Monday, July 8th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:
  • Brickyard Gastropub (785 9th Ave., at 52nd St., Hell’s Kitchen) hosts Brooklyn Brewery with a Tap Attack tonight at 6pm. Enjoy the Scorcher #366, Radius, Sorachi Ace, and more, including the rare Vortex IPA, normally only available in Sweden!

  • Beer Table Pantry (Grand Central Terminal, Graybar Passage, Midtown) hosts a free sampling of beer from Southern Tier tonight from 5-7pm. Stop in on your way to the train and taste the Live then get yourself a growler (or pint-to-go) to take home.

  • Tavern 29 (47 E. 29th St., at Park Ave. So., Flatiron) begins their S.K.I. Summer Beer Sessions with Stone tonight at 6pm. $30 gets you four tasters, four food pairings, a full Stone draft of your choice, and the opportunity to explore and learn about the brewery and enjoy the beer on all three of the bar’s levels.

  • The Yorkville Apartment Brewers holds their first publicized homebrew club meeting at City Swiggers (320 E. 86th St., at 2nd Ave., Upper East Side) tonight from 7-9pm. Share a homebrew with your neighbor, discuss brewing methods, and collaborate. Beginners are welcome. Meetings are informal and will be held at City Swiggers on the second Monday of every month.

Happy Hour: Pre-Fourth

It’s Wednesday, July 3rd. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Our monthly Clues & Brews Trivia Night is tonight at 7:30pm at Breukelen Bier Merchants (182 Grand St., at Driggs Ave., Williamsburg). Enjoy some craft beer, answer some trivia questions, and win more beer! Winners of each trivia round get beer on the house, and the overall winners get a gift card. They’ll have beers like Brooklyn Sorachi Ace, Dogfish Head Chateau Jiahu, the Stillwater Cellar Door, and more on tap.

  • Idle Hands Bar (25 Avenue B, at 2nd St., East Village) goes Can Crazy with their Summer of Cans Part 2: Wrath of Can Party tonight from 6-10pm. Enjoy $4 craft beer cans, like Sixpoint Apollo, Narragansett Summer Ale, and lots more… for pay $25 for all-you-can-drink cans till 10pm.

  • As you gear up for the holiday, all Whole Foods locations in New York are taking 20% off all beer today! Sample Flying Dog for free from 4-7pm at Whole Foods Union Square (4 Union Sq. S., at University Pl, Union Square), and try some Samuel Adams beers at  On Tap at Whole Foods Columbus Circle (10 Columbus Circle, at 59th St., Upper West Side) from 5-8pm.

A Beer Geek’s Guide to the Fourth of July

Tomorrow is the Fourth of July! What’s more American than drinking beer? Well, considering the Czech Republic consumes nearly twice as much beer per capita as we do, maybe it’s not the most American thing to do, but it sure feels patriotic to drink some truly American beer - craft beer - on the Fourth!
