Happy Hour: Dinner with Big Alice

It’s Tuesday, August 20th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • The Queens Kickshaw (40-17 Broadway, at 41st St., Astoria) hosts the first-ever Big Alice Beer Dinner tonight from 6-9:30pm. Enjoy four courses paired with four unique beers from this small Long Island City-based brewery, like a Biscuit Slider with Purple Potato Chips paired with the Purple Potato Tripel, and Green Papaya Salad paired with the Lemongrass Tumeric White Lager. Dinner is $60 (tax and tip extra), and you can book by sending an email to info@thequeenskickshaw.com to indicate your preferred time and number of guests.

  • Radegast Hall & Biergarten (113 N. 3rd St., at Berry St., Williamsburg) hosts an “Intriguing Wheats” tasting of beers tonight at 7pm, including the Schneider Weisse Nelson Sauvin, Professor Fritz Briem Grodziskie, and Bayerischer Bahnhof Leipziger Gose. You can enjoy them in a flight or by the glass, and you’ll also get to partake in some live music from Bob Parins and His Pint-Sized Cocktail Orchestra.

  • Coronado Brewing makes its Brooklyn debut tonight at 5pm at Spuyten Duyvil (350 Metropolitan Ave., at Havermeyer St., Williamsburg). They’ll have the Blue Bridge Coffee Stout, Idiot IPA, Orange Avenue Wit, and more on tap, and folks from the brewery will be on hand, too.

  • Blue Mountain visits Rattle-N-Hum (14 E. 33rd St., at 5th Ave., Midtown) today starting at 4pm. Enjoy brews from Virginia like the Uber Pilsner, Mandolin Abbey Tripel, Steel Wheels ESB, and lots more all night long.

  • Bierkraft (191 Fifth Ave., at President St., Park Slope) features Singlecut Beersmiths tonight at 7pm for their free Tuesday Tasting. Learn more about this Astoria-based outfit and taste five of their finest brews… get there early for a seat!

Happy Hour: Get to know Coronado

It’s Monday, August 19th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • The Pony Bar UES (1444 First Ave. at 75th St., Upper East Side)  hosts Coronado Brewing’s official New York City launch tonight at 6pm. Get to know the San Diego brewery with beers like Orange Avenue Wit, Mermaid’s Red, and the Idiot IPA.

  • Beer Table Pantry (Grand Central Terminal, Graybar Passage, Midtown) hosts a free tasting of beer from California’s Ballast Point tonight from 5-7pm. Stop in on your way to the train for a tasting of beer, and take a growler (or pint-to-go) home.

  • It’s VSK (Very Special Keg) Monday at Blind Tiger Ale House (281 Bleecker St., at Jones St., Greenwich Village). At 5pm, they’ll tap a rare or unique keg of the bar’s choosing. This week, it’s the Founders Mango Magnifico Con Calor. a 10% ABV beer brewed with mangoes and Michigan-grown habanero peppers.

Happy Hour: Thirsty Thursday

It’s Thursday, August 15th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Barcade (388 Union Ave., at Ainslie St., Williamsburg) lets Peekskill Brewery take over the taps today at 4pm. Enjoy beers like the Hop Common, Share the Rainbow, Vaporizer Imperial Stout, and the beloved Amazeballs. Get there quick - these beers will go fast!

  • Goose Island takes over the taps at Top Hops Beer Shop (94 Orchard St., at Broome St., Lower East Side) tonight at 5pm. Enjoy beers like the Summertime, Night Stalker, Bourbon County Stout, and more, plus sample some rare stuff from their stash!

  • Bierkraft (191 Fifth Ave., at President St., Park Slope) puts Old England against New England with their draft night tonight at 7pm. From New England, they’ll have beers from Harpoon, and from Old England, beers from Wells and Young’s.

  • Oskar Blues visits Staten Island’s Adobe Blues (63 Lafayette Ave., at Fillmore St., New Brighton) tonight at 7pm. Enjoy oSKAr G'Rauch, Ten Fidy, Velvet Elvis, and some giant cans of Dale’s Pale Ale.

  • 4th Avenue Pub (76 4th Ave., at Bergen St., Boerum Hill) hosts a stop on the Old Speckled Hen Great American Road Trip tonight at 7pm. Perhaps you’ll be graced with a visit from Old Speckled Henry, or a glass of Old Crafty Hen.

  • The weekly Thursday Tap at Jimmy’s No. 43 (43 E. 7th St., at 2nd Ave., East Village) this week is Jolly Pumpkin Luciernaga, one of Jimmy’s favorites, which they’ll tap at 5pm. Say happy birthday to Jimmy for us while you’re there!

Happy Hour: Craft Shotgunning

It’s Wednesday, August 14th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Proletariat (102 St. Marks Pl., at 1st Ave., East Village) celebrates the release of cans of the new Stillwater Classique with a ceremonial shotgunning at 6:30pm. $5 gets you a can that you can chug with Stillwater’s own Brian Strumke.

  • Germany’s Riegele Brewery makes its New York City debut tonight at both ABC Beer Co. (96 Avenue C, at 6th St., East Village) and City Swiggers (320 E. 86th St., at 2nd Ave., Upper East Side)  tonight at 6pm. Enjoy this new-to-New York draft-only offering that’s been rocking Bavaria for over 600 years!

  • Goose Island takes over all the taps - yes, ALL of them - at Pennsylvania 6 (132 W. 31st St., at 7th Ave., Midtown) tonight starting at 5pm. Meet brewer Brian Taylor and enjoy beers like the Sofie Paradisi, Madame Rose, and perhaps a couple versions of the Bourbon County Stout for good measure.

  • Top Hops Beer Shop (94 Orchard St., at Broome St., Lower East Side) hosts Atlantic Brewing, straight outta Maine, tonight from 6-9pm. Enjoy refreshing brews like the Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale and Island Ginger.

  • Mustang Harry’s (352 7th Ave., at 30th St., Chelsea) hosts a bevy of Belgian beverages like Delerium Tremens, Blanche de Bruxelles, and La Guillotine for Belgian Beer Night starting at 5pm.

  • Illinois’ Wild Onion Brewing and Idle Hands Bar (25 Avenue B, at 2nd St., East Village) team up for the bar’s weekly $10 Bourbon and Beer Tasting Series. From 7-10pm, $10 gets you a 3-beer tasting flight, including the brewery’s Summer Witte, Paddy’s Pale Ale, and Phat Chance Blonde, a taste of whisky, and an order of tater tots!
