The Beer Weekender: September 6-8

Our first (blurry) glass of Greenport Harbor Leaf Pile this season

Well, we finally did it. There’s a little bit of a chill in the air today, so it felt like as good a time as any to finally break down and have a seasonal fall beer. Our choice for our first one of the season: Greenport Harbor Leaf Pile, a lightly-spiced ale that’s been a fall favorite of ours for three years now. You can get it now at Shorty’s Pearl St. (62 Pearl St., at Broad St., Financial District), The Bodega (24 St. Nicholas Ave., at Troutman St., Bushwick), and at assorted other beer joints around the city. If you’re still holding out till the first day of fall, you’re stronger than we are. But even those staunch seasonal creep foes at The Diamond (43 Franklin St., at Calyer St., Greenpoint) are doing their annual Southern Tier Pumking tapping next Saturday, the 14th. Seems that no one is safe from seasonal creep’s wrath.

Here’s a rundown of this weekend’s beer events in and around New York. Enjoy!
