It’s Monday, October 7th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • It’s Brooklyn Defender Pint Night at The Owl Farm (297 9th St., at 5th Ave., Park Slope) tonight starting at 7pm. Try the new black ale in honor of New York Comic-Con, and get a special limited-edition Defender pint glass while supplies last.
  • It’s VSK (Very Special Keg) Monday at Blind Tiger Ale House (281 Bleecker St., at Jones St., Greenwich Village). At 5pm, they’ll tap a rare or unique keg of the bar’s choosing. This week, it’s the Evil Twin Justin Blaeber, a blueberry Berliner Weiss that’s fitting for the extended summer weather!

  • Stoudt’s hosts sampling at Beer Table To-Go (Grand Central Terminal, Graybar Passage, Midtown) today from 5-7pm. Stop in on your way home for a taste of the Fourplay #3 IPA from this longtime Pennsylvania brewer, then fill your growler with it, too!

The Beer Weekender: October 4-6

The real Oktoberfest wraps up on Sunday in Munich, so you’d expect a whole ton of German beer on our list this weekend. Indeed, this is true. But there’s also an awesome event up the river, if you’re feeling adventurous. The Hudson Hop and Harvest is Saturday in Peekskill. It’s a big celebration featuring farm-to-table food, craft beer, and live music all afternoon and into the night on the Peekskill Waterfront. Admission is free and it’s just an hour from Grand Central (and the festival site is steps from Peekskill’s Metro-North station). More details are in our list.

What to drink at Mad Sq. Eats

For a month twice each year, Mad Sq. Eats sets up in a plaza across from Madison Square Park (at the intersection of 25th & Broadway), serving up food as diverse as Italian Rice Balls and Japanese-style hot dogs along with wine - and yes - plenty of craft beer to enjoy outside in the waning warm-weather days ahead.   • Breukelen Bier Merchants (182 Grand St., at Driggs Ave., Williamsburg) is the site of our monthly Clues & Brews Trivia Night tonight at 7:30pm. The winners of each round get a round of delicious craft beers, and the overall winners take home a gift card!

  • Idle Hands Bar (25 Avenue B, at 2nd St., East Village) curates a beer tasting of Ballast Point beers paired with songs by Kelly Clarkson. From 7-9pm, $10 gets you a 3-beer tasting flight, plus a shot of whisky and an order of tater tots! Make your reservation online.

  • Beer Authority (300 W. 40th St., at 8th Ave., Hell’s Kitchen) hosts their Oktoberfest celebration tonight at 5pm. They’ll pour the Weihenstephaner Festbier, Altenmunster Oktoberfest, Left Hand Oktoberfest, and more, plus have t-shirt and stein giveaways!
