Happy Hour: Thirsty Thursday

It’s Thursday, October 24th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • It’s the New York debut of French outfit Brasserie Du Pays Flamond tonight at 7pm at Brouwerij Lane (78 Greenpoint Ave., at Franklin St., Greenpoint). Enjoy unique beers like their Anosteké blonde and their Prototype Juniper Porter collaboration with Nøgne Ø for the first time ever in the city!

  • Bierkraft (191 Fifth Ave., at President St., Park Slope) hosts a lineup of Colorado Breweries to support flood relief tonight starting at 7pm. Beers from Left Hand, Breckenridge, Oskar Blues, and Great Divide will all be on tap and a portion of the sale of these beers will be donated to the Left Hand Brewing Foundation.

  • If you’re not in Brooklyn and still want to support the same efforts, don’t forget that the Colorado Craft Tap Takeover continues tonight through November 2nd at venues across the East Village and Lower East Side! Enjoy beers from Left Hand, Oskar Blues, Breckenridge, and Great Divide at participating bars and support the effort by buying a raffle ticket for just $10, with all proceeds going to the Left Hand Brewing Foundation. Raffle prizes include gift certificates, bar tabs, and food from participating bars.

  • Barcade Jersey City (163 Newark Ave., at Erie St., Jersey City)hosts Oskar Blues today starting at 4pm, with the Chaka, Barrel-Aged Ten Fidy, One Nut Brown, and more rarities on tap along with the beers you’ve come to love from this Colorado-based brewer.

  • Whole Foods Bowery Beer Room (95 E. Houston St., at Chrystie St., Lower East Side)hosts Barrier tonight from 5-8pm, sampling the Money IPA and Cycle Saison, with discounts on growler fills, too!

  • The Pony Bar HK (637 10th Ave. at 45th St., Hell’s Kitchen)hosts Peak Organic tonight at 6pm with a unique opportunity: dry-hop your own beer! They’ll be bringing along Summit hops for a chance to experience a fresh-hop experience.

  • The weekly Thursday Tap at Jimmy’s No. 43 (43 E. 7th St., at 2nd Ave., East Village) will feature ciders from Aaron Burr Cider, You can enjoy it starting at 5pm and meet Andy Brennan of Aaron Burr as well. Then at 8:30, Rowan Imports will be co-hosting a Spanish Sidra pouring demonstration with Spanish ciders available for purchase.

We’re calling it the Brew York Hot List, and we’ll update it every month.

Happy Hour: Sin and Tonic

It’s Wednesday, October 23rd. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Alewife (5-14 51st Ave., at 5th St., Long Island City)hosts Girls’ Pint Out tonight at 6:30pm as they feature the New Belgium Sin and Tonic, a gin-and-tonic-inspired beer brewed by Girls’ Pint Out co-founder Jenn Litz and New Belgium. They’ll also join a Google Hangout featuring New Belgium founder Kim Jordan and Girls’ Pint Out chapters from around the country.

  • Sierra Nevada takes over the taps tonight at Pennsylvania 6 (132 W. 31st St., at 7th Ave., Midtown) starting at 5pm. They’ll have tons of rarities on tap, like the Barrel-Aged Maple StoutDevESTATEtion, Northern Hemisphere Harvest, and more all night long!
  • Rowan Imports stops by City Swiggers (320 E. 86th St., at 2nd Ave., Upper East Side) tonight from 4:30-6pm to serve up a tasting of some Spanish ciders like Val d’Ornon, Villacubera, and Emilio Martinez Sparkling Cider. Then, from 6-9pm, it’s Ayinger Brewery in the house with samples of the Oktoberfest, Celebrator, and more!

  • The Queens Kickshaw (40-17 Broadway, at 41st St., Astoria) continues their celebration of Cider Week with a special five-course cider dinner tonight till 10pm (head to Brown Paper Tickets for reservations), and a late-night “Asturians in Astoria” event featuring samples of a lineup of Spanish ciders from 10pm-Midnight.

Happy Hour: Burton Down the Hatches

It’s Tuesday, October 22nd. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • New Manhattan spot The Jeffrey (311 E. 60th St., at 2nd Ave., Upper East Side) hosts their first-ever beer event: a Dogfish Head tap takeover starting at 4pm. They’ll have Burton Baton, the new American Beauty, the rare Firefly Pale Ale, and many more on tap all night long!

  • Braven Brewing, who launched their Kickstarter campaign last week, celebrates the campaign with a party tonight at St. Mazie (345 Grand St., at Marcy Ave., Williamsburg) at 8pm. Sample the Braven Black and Braven White beers, and pledge on-site while enjoying some surfer rock from Las Hormiguitas.

  • The Colorado Craft Tap Takeover kicks off tonight at venues across the East Village and Lower East Side! Enjoy beers from Left Hand, Oskar Blues, Breckenridge, and Great Divide at participating bars and support the effort by buying a raffle ticket for just $10, with all proceeds going to the Left Hand Brewing Foundation, which is helping to support those effected by the floods that decimated many parts of the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies last month. Raffle prizes include gift certificates, bar tabs, and food from participating bars. The takeover continues through November 2nd.

  • Celebrate the Third Anniversary of Untappd tonight at The Pony Bar UES (1444 First Ave. at 75th St., Upper East Side) starting at 7pm. Meet co-founder Greg Avola and check-in to a beer there to win a $20 Pony Bar gift card!
  • Bierkraft (191 Fifth Ave., at President St., Park Slope) features the ciders of Original Sin tonight at 7pm for their free Tuesday Tasting… get there early for a seat as Gideon takes you through a lineup of ciders just in time for Cider Week!

  • Rattle-N-Hum (14 E. 33rd St., at 5th Ave., Midtown) pits East Coast against West Coast starting at 4pm as they host Harpoon, featuring beers like their Saison Various, and Stone, with beers like the 10 Barrel/Blue Jacket/Stone Suede Imperial Porter, all night long.

  • Radegast Hall (113 N. 3rd St., at Berry St., Williamsburg) hosts an their Tuesday Tasting tonight at 7:30pm. They’ll be featuring a lineup of ciders for Cider Week from AspallDoc’s, and Farnum Hill - plus free snacks along with live music from the Fatum Brothers Quartet!

  • Bar Catalonia (206 W. 41st St., at 7th Ave., Midtown) continues their series called Boogie Down with The Bronx Brewery, featuring local musicians and their beer. The Markham Group, a jazz ensemble, will perform as you enjoy a complimentary tasting of Bronx Pale Ale from 6-7:30pm.

Happy Hour: Happy Birthday, Fourth Avenue Pub!

It’s Monday, October 21st. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Happy seventh birthday to Fourth Avenue Pub (76 4th Ave., at Bergen St., Boerum Hill) today! They’ll celebrate by offering happy hour prices all day long today and pouring some great beers from the likes of Peekskill, Smuttynose, Stillwater, Lagunitas, and many more!

  • Barrier Brewing visits Over The Eight (594 Union Ave., at Richardson St., Williamsburg) tonight starting at 7pm, pouring the Dunegrass DIPA on cask, plus the Oil City Black IPA, Protagonist ESB, Impostor Pils, and more for just four bucks!
  • It’s VSK (Very Special Keg) Monday at Blind Tiger Ale House (281 Bleecker St., at Jones St., Greenwich Village). At 5pm, they’ll tap a rare or unique keg of the bar’s choosing. This week, it’s the Founders Harvest Ale, a Michigan beer that reaps the harvest of delicious wet hops!

  • As part of Cider Week, Aspall Cider stops by City Swiggers (320 E. 86th St., at 2nd Ave., Upper East Side) tonight from 6-8pm. Henry Chevallier Guild, the owner of the UK-based cidery, will be on hand as they serve up free tastes of the Premier Cru Dry Cyder, Organic Suffolk Cyder, Cuvee des Chevallier Sparkling Cyder, and more
