Happy Hour: Drink with the Italians

It’s Monday, November 11th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Proletariat (102 St. Marks Pl., at 1st Ave., East Village) hosts a guided tasting of beers with Italian brewers Walter Loverier of Loverbeer and Paolo Bertani of Birra del Borgo. Starting at 6pm sharp, they’ll lead a tasting of their rare offerings - two from each brewery. It’s $20 at the door… arrive no later than 6!

  • The Pony Bar HK (637 10th Ave. at 45th St., Hell’s Kitchen) hosts Ballast Point tonight at 6pm. They’ll have nine draft lines and a pin for your pleasure, including the Pale Ale with Serrano Peppers, Sculpin IPA with Grapefruit, and the Black Marlin Porter. Brewery owner Jack White will drop by, too!
  • It’s VSK (Very Special Keg) Monday at Blind Tiger Ale House (281 Bleecker St., at Jones St., Greenwich Village). At 5pm, they’ll tap AleSmith’s Horny Devil and Anvil, both rarely found on tap in this neck of the woods. The brewery’s owner Peter Zien will stop by at 7pm, too!

  • Two Brothers gets some love from Beer Table To-Go (Grand Central Terminal, Graybar Passage, Midtown) today from 5-7pm. Stop in on your way home for a taste of the Resistance IPA from this Chicago-area brewery, then fill your growler with it, too!

Tickets still available for Wednesday’s Craft Experience

If you’re one who likes to procrastinate, we have some good news: tickets are still available for The Craft Experience, a food, beer, and spirits tasting this Wednesday night from 7-10pm at Center548 (548 W. 22nd St., at 11th Ave., Chelsea). The event, which has historically been limited to industry only, is put on each year by Union Beer Distributors to feature their products. Being that they have the largest craft beer portfolio in New York, you can expect to be impressed with the beers they’ll be serving at the event.

Happy Hour: Thirsty Thursday

It’s Thursday, November 7th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Barcade (388 Union Ave., at Ainslie St., Williamsburg) hosts a big-ass Dogfish Head tap takeover tonight starting at 4pm. Enjoy 20 taps, including a cask of the 75 Minute IPA, Oak-Aged Noble Rot, 2008 vintage World Wide Stout, and the new American Beauty, just to name a few.

  • Bierkraft (191 Fifth Ave., at President St., Park Slope) hosts Sierra Nevada tonight at 7pm. Enjoy six different IPAs, and a boatload of other beers, including the Beer Camp Imperial Red, Narwhal Imperial Stout, Kellerweisse, and this year’s Celebration.

  • It’s a Colorado Brewery Showdown tonight at Bronx Ale House (216 W. 238th St., at Broadway, Kingsbridge). Get in a Mile High state of mind starting at 7pm, while you enjoy beers from Left Hand, Breckenridge, Oskar Blues, and Great Divide all night long.
  • Malt & Mold (221 East Broadway, at Clinton St., Lower East Side) hosts a Thursday night tasting of Peak Organic. Sample some of these beers from Maine, along with free cheese, from 5-8pm.

  • The weekly Thursday Tap at Jimmy’s No. 43 (43 E. 7th St., at 2nd Ave., East Village) will be the Barrier Brewing Riprap Baltic Porter, a rich, dark brew fermented with a lager yeast at warmer temperatures and cold-conditioned for several weeks. It’ll be on tap starting at 5pm.

It’s Wednesday, November 6th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Wandering Star visits Over The Eight (594 Union Ave., at Richardson St., Williamsburg) tonight starting at 6pm, pouring the Red Oktober on Cask, Mild at Heart, Catcher in the Rye and more for just four bucks!

  • The Stag’s Head (252 E. 51st St., at 2nd Ave., Turtle Bay) hosts Peekskill tonight, serving up some of the state’s best beer at 6pm. On tap: Eastern Standard IPA, Simple Sour, Crack of Dawn, Slow & Low, and more!

  • Goose Island stops by City Swiggers (320 E. 86th St., at 2nd Ave., Upper East Side) tonight from 6-9pm to serve up a tasting of tap beers like Lolita, Pepe Nero, Matilda Lambicus, and more from bottles!

  • Dark Horse and Idle Hands Bar (25 Avenue B, at 2nd St., East Village), team up for the bar’s weekly $10 Bourbon and Beer Tasting Series. Tonight from 7-10pm, $10 gets beers in a 3-beer tasting flight, 2 full pours, a taste of whisky, and an order of tater tots!

Happy Hour: Vote for Beer

It’s Tuesday, November 5th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • Radegast Hall (113 N. 3rd St., at Berry St., Williamsburg) hosts the beers of Freigeist tonight at 7pm. Enjoy beers from this great German brewery, including the Abraxxxas smoked sour wheat beer, Geisterzug Gose brewed with spruce branches, Sauer Porter brewed with salt, and Hibiskuss brewed with hibiscus flowers along with live music from Glenn Crytzer & His Syncopators!
  • Bierkraft (191 Fifth Ave., at President St., Park Slope) hosts Southampton tonight at 7pm for their free Tuesday Tasting. Get there early to enjoy one of the few redeeming things about the Hamptons.

  • One Mile House (10 Delancey St., at Bowery, Lower East Side) celebrates Harvest Night tonight starting at 7pm. They’ll pour the right brews for the season like the Founders Harvest Ale, The Bruery Autumn Maple, Carton Harvest, Sierra Nevada Northern Hemisphere, plus some tasty food pairings.

  • Bar Catalonia (206 W. 41st St., at 7th Ave., Midtown) continues their series called Boogie Down with The Bronx Brewery, featuring local musicians and their beer. The Markham Group, a jazz ensemble, will perform as you enjoy the Bronx Pale Ale from 6-7:30pm.
