Happy Hour: Thirsty Thursday

It’s Thursday, February 2nd. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:

  • It’s Midwest Beer Night at Barcade (388 Union Ave., at Ainslie St., Williamsburg) tonight starting at 5pm, with plenty of surprises from flyover country. You’ll see stuff like a 2010 Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout, the 17.5% Kuhnhenn Extraneous Ale, the 2009 Goose Island Night Stalker, and many, many more friendly Midwest beers.
  • Bronx Ale House (216 W. 238th St., at Broadway, Kingsbridge, Bronx) rolls out the Dogfish Head Music Series, pouring all three brews starting at 7pm: Hellhound on My Ale, Miles Davis Bitches Brew, and Faithfull Ale. Collect all three!
  • Evil Twin and Stillwater invade Alewife Queens (5-14 51st Ave., at 5th St., Long Island City) tonight starting at 7pm, pouring a ton of brews from both sides of the Atlantic, including Stillwater’s Bri-Witter Weisse, Cellar Door, and Our Side, and Evil Twin’s Monk Suffers Serious Sugar Rush on Barbados, Xmas Eve At a NYC Hotel Room, and Williamsburg Hipster Ale. Plus, brewers Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø and Brian Strumke will both be in attendance!
  • It’s Smuttynose Night tonight at The Gate (321 5th Ave., at 3rd St., Park Slope). They’ll roll out an impressive tap list starting at 7pm, including a 2007 Barleywine, 2009 Baltic Porter, the good ol’ Pumpkin Ale, and a cask of their Winter Ale.
  • Flying Dog takes the taps at Bierkraft (191 Fifth Ave., at President St., Park Slope) tonight starting at 7pm. Expect a boatload of Maryland brews, including the K9 Crusier Winter Ale, Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout, Brewmaster’s Reserve Imperial Hefeweizen, and a Stranahan barrel-aged version of the Gonzo Imperial Porter. Whoa.
