Happy Hour: No barriers to great beer
It’s Wednesday, January 25th. Here’s our list of recommended beer-related events in and around New York after work tonight:
- The boys at Barrier head to Sunswick 35/35 (35-02 35th St., at 35th Ave., Astoria) tonight from 7-10pm. Come celebrate great local beer with the Medula English IPA, Bulkhead Red, Antagonist ESB, and more!
- Ommegang takes the taps at Blind Tiger Ale House (281 Bleecker St., at Jones St., West Village) with some American-brewed Belgian brews and a few surprises on tap starting at 3pm. They’ll be pouring the Gnomegang, Chocolate Indulgence, the new Seduction, and a Buffalo Trace barrel-aged 2009 vintage Adoration. Yeah, how ‘bout that?
- Empire pays a visit to Idle Hands Bar (25 Avenue B, at 2nd St., East Village) for their weekly $10 Bourbon and Beer Tasting Series. From 7-10pm, $10 gets you 2 full beers, a 3-beer tasting flight, a taste of whisky, and an order of tater tots!
- Standings (43 E. 7th St., at 2nd Ave., East Village) hosts their Wild Wednesday Winterfest tonight starting at 6pm. Enjoy winter beers like Rogue Yellow Snow IPA and River Horse Belgian Freeze while they tap a keg of Dogfish Head Bitches Brew. Then, stay for the free bratwursts from Wechsler’s at 8pm!
- Now that the Packers are out of the playoffs, there’s no reason to hate Wisconsin anymore. So head down to Taproom 307 (307 3rd Ave., at 24th St., Murray Hill) for Stevens Point night tonight at 7pm. The 150-year old Point Brewery takes over nine taps, pouring brews like the 2012 Black Ale, Whole Hog Barleywine, and their flagship Special Lager.
