Your Beery Weekend: January 20-22

It might actually snow this weekend for the first time since October! We suppose this is a good time to get into the Winter Beer spirit, finally… and it’s a good time to mention our beer tasting, The Joy of Winter Beers, next Thursday night at 92YTribeca. Meanwhile, check out these beer events over the weekend… and enjoy the snow!

FRIDAY

• The Brew York City Growler Bar @ 76th (2148 Broadway, at 76th St., Upper West Side) offers samples of brew from Magic Hat, including their staple #9 and their winter seasonal, Howl. Stop by from 5-7pm for the fun!
• Tonight and all weekend long, visit Brouwerij Lane (78 Greenpoint Ave., at Franklin St., Greenpoint) for their Barleywine and Strong Ale Festival! Among the brews, Pretty Things Our Finest Regards, Firestone Walker XV, The Bruery Cuir, and more!

SATURDAY

• It’s Shelton Brothers Weekend at Jimmy’s No. 43 (43 E. 7th St., at 2nd Ave., East Village), as the famed importers pull out all the stops and throw a bunch of their beers on tap, including brews like the German Mahr’s Ungespundet, British Ridgeway Seriously Bad Elf, and the Danish/American collaboration between Mikkeller and Three Floyds, Boogoop. Plus, Saturday afternoon, they’ll have a ticketed, guided talk and tasting of rare beers for $35 (tickets are available through Brown Paper Tickets).

SUNDAY

• The Niners take on Big Blue at 6:30pm, so might we recommend catching the game at Bark Hot Dogs (474 Bergen St., at 5th Ave., Park Slope)? They’re showing every game of the NFL playoffs with $2 Sixpoint 12-ounce drafts!
