With La Birreria, the waiting is the hardest part

Eataly does have an excellent beer selection, but when will beer be brewed there?
Back in February, news broke of an Italian/American collaborative brewpub on the roof of Eataly that would be run in part by Dogfish Head’s Sam Calagione. The project was called La Birreria, and it would open over the summer.
Then Eataly got closer to completion, and it seemed obvious that progress was slow up on the roof. So a more vague completion date of the fall became a less vague but more distant completion date of mid-November. Then, last month, it became clear that November was a pipe dream, and Zagat reported the new date as “January or February.”
Well, revise your calendars again: Beernews.org is reporting that the new opening date is now sometime in March. The good news? They’re also reporting that the rooftop beer garden will be covered, so we can expect a year-round, rain-or-shine operation.
Now we play the waiting game.
