New York Craft Beer Week: Our Picks for Day 7

BREWERS CHOICE
Location
:City Winery (155 Varick St., Vandam St., Soho)
Time: 6pm
Cost: $75, tickets available online until 3pm, also available at the door
Quite possibly our favorite event of New York Craft Beer Week, this walk-around tasting pairs over a dozen different breweries with small plates produced by New York City chefs and food producers. On top of the food and beer, Brooklyn Brewery’s Garrett Oliver will be the keynote speaker this year. It’s an event that’s not to be missed.


STONE AND GREG KOCH TAKE OVER RATTLE
Location
: Rattle-N-Hum (14 E. 33rd St., at 5th Ave., Midtown)
Time: 4pm-1am
Cost: Free
Put on your GregFace and get ready for a tap takeover from Stone Brewing tonight at Rattle, as they host brewery CEO Greg Koch and a ton of delicious beers. Selections include the 2008 Imperial Russian Stout, Vertical Epic 10.10.10, and the unforgettable Baird/Ishii/Stone Japanese Green Tea IPA. Just don’t hold your GregFace for too long - it might stick.


DEFIANT MASTODON THE HUNTER RELEASE

: Idle Hands Bar (25 Avenue B, at 2nd St., East Village)
Time
: 7-9pm
Cost
: Free
Be among the first here in the city to try a new Pumpkin Porter from Pearl River’s Defiant Brewery, named for the famed metal band Mastodon’s new album, The Hunter. Naturally, the bar be playing the album, too.


EMPIRE BEER NIGHT
Location
: The Pony Bar (637 10th Ave. at 45th St., Hell’s Kitchen)
Time: 6pm
Cost: Free
Not to be outdone by last night’s Barrier event, The Pony hosts 20 taps from Empire Brewing tonight. Expect a bevy of beers you’ve never seen before from this upstart Upstate brewery.


PEAK ORGANIC NIGHT AT LUKE’S LOBSTER
Location: Luke’s Lobster (26 S. William St., at Beaver St., Financial District)
Time: 7-9pm
Cost: Free
We love Luke’s Lobster, and we love beer. And Luke and Ben brought the two together in one place. Have their $30 beer pairing dinner with three brews from Peak Organic, and get an extra sample of the newly-released Fall Summit Ale.
