Meet the newest import to NYC, Three Heads Brewing

Meet the newest brewery to hit bars within the five boroughs, Three Heads Brewing. Since they’re in-state, these Rochester-based brewers didn’t need to jump through any big regulatory hoops to get their beer here, but they had to wait until they could brew enough beer to serve us properly. They’re already in Massachusetts and Illinois, but as of this week, they’re finally shipping their beer down to us!
NY Senate Majority Leader proposes brewery tax credit in jobs bill

New York Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-Nassau Co.) proposed a package of tax credits and tax cuts to spur growth in several industries across the state last week. Within the bill, called the 2012 New Jobs-NY job creation act, is another attempt to give much-needed relief to New York’s small breweries, who were just hit with a surprise new tax burden after a court ruling last month.

When Captain Lawrence unveiled their new brewery in Elmsford earlier this year, there was one small detail of the facility that did not go unnoticed by beer geeks: their smaller, 7-barrel pilot brewing system, where brewmaster Scott Vaccaro would brew small test batches and experimental beers. A few months later, we’ve learned the details of the first two of these brews, which should be available at the brewery soon.
